We purchased $6,000 worth of Spanish Bibles and took them with us to Baja. Many families in Baja don’t have Bibles, so we passed out free Bibles all week. Over and again, the people receiving the Bibles would stop right there and start reading.
Our short-term mission team going door-to-door in Camalu and giving free Bibles.
We were surprised how hungry the people of Baja, Mexico are for the Word of God. Repeatedly when we gave out free Spanish Bibles, the people would immediately sit down and start reading the Bibles. Here, we were getting ready to put on a play called “The History of Jesus,” and these kids came up asking for Bibles. As soon as they got them, they sat right down and started reading as we continued getting ready for the play. Wow! That’s something I’ve never seen in America.
I was rather shocked to discover that many families in Baja, Mexico do not have a Bible. We raised money to purchase 6,000 Spanish Bibles and took them with us on a short-term mission trip. It was awesome to see how happy the folks were to receive free Bibles as we walked the streets and went door to door. It’s hard to describe how good it feels to do something so tangible like this for the Kingdom. And the looks on the people’s faces were priceless.
This is my wife, Marla, during a short-term mission trip to Baja. The people of Baja have continually impressed us with their friendliness, openness and kindness. It’s wonderful to be on a mission trip and have opportunities to meet nationals and encourage them in the name of Christ. On this trip, we also passed out Bibles, a salvation track and an invitation to a play we would perform at the end of the week entitled “The History of Jesus.” I’ll share more about that experience this week, but I’ll just say at this point that God moved in a powerful way.
